MEDIA: how to manage inheritance distribution & avoid family disputes

When families lose a loved one, inheritance can sometimes become a source of conflict, leading to disputes over property. This is particularly true in cases where no will has been left or prior arrangements have not been made.

So, how can inheritance distribution be managed to prevent any rifts? What strategies can be used to reduce the likelihood of family disagreements? Also, what rights and entitlements should heirs be aware of to ensure a fair and smooth process?

Join the discussion with IAS Advisory co-founder Mr Anuwat Ngamprasertkul in an episode of the popular evening TV programme Home Economy, hosted by veteran news anchor, reporter and journalist Dr Wit Sittivaekin.

IAS Advisory proud to be main sponsor of “Law Chula Fest” for 2nd year

The firm was honoured to be the main sponsor of Chulalongkorn University’s celebrated “Law Chula Fest” for the second year running.

“Law Chula Fest,” organised by members of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Law, is held each year and brings together academics, legal professionals, students, and members of the community to raise awareness of the importance of legal education, disseminate knowledge, and generate public engagement with the Faculty.

This year’s festival, which took place on Saturday 25th October, was particularly special, being held as a tribute to the benevolence and leadership of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, whose support for education and charitable causes still inspires so many.

Attendees engaged in a variety of activities throughout the day, including debates, exhibitions, friendly competitions, mock moot courts, presentations, Q&A sessions, role-plays, and more. There was also guidance and other simulated classroom activities to help show prospective students what studying at Chula’s prestigious Faculty of Law is like.

“Law Chula Fest 2025” aimed not only to honour His Majesty’s generosity, but also to serve as an educational platform and enhance public understanding of the function of law in society and the individual’s rights and responsibilities within it.

We are proud to support such a meaningful initiative, and extend our sincere gratitude to the whole team at Chula for their dedication, meticulous planning, and execution in ensuring the success of this important event. We look forward to continuing our partnership and to supporting similar endeavours that inspire learning, innovation, and community engagement.

Thanks, Chula!

Siripen contributes to ABLJ feature story on changes to the Thai FBA

IAS Advisory co-founding partner Ms Siripen Kulworakulpitak was pleased to contribute to Asia Business Law Journal (ABLJ)’s recent feature “Opportunity Knocks,” published on Tuesday 22nd July, about the Thai Cabinet’s decision to amend the Foreign Business Act (1999) (FBA).

The proposed reforms are intended to ease restrictions on foreign business ownership under the FBA and create a more open investment climate. Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has also been instructed to revoke certain rules under the FBA deemed to have a negative impact on the country’s economic development.

While concerns have been raised over clarity, enforcement and fairness in respect of the amendments, there are doubts about the extent to which the government really intends to modernise the country’s investment framework, and questions remain about the opportunities that will actually be available.

For its feature, ABLJ engaged senior Thai lawyers and other experts to consider what the reforms mean for businesses in practice. Also, to discuss if real liberalisation is likely to follow. Siripen was supported in her work on this project by IAS Advisory senior associate and corporate/M&A specialist Ms Sukontharat Nobnom.
